Dr. Matthew Healy
Osteopath & Director of Pivotal Osteopathy
Matthew is an experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic Osteopath who enjoys treating people of all ages and a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints.
With over 15 years experience working in private practice, Matthew has developed a particular interest in the treatment and rehabilitation of postural and sports injuries. Using a combination of functional movement and Osteopathic principles, Matthew works with patients to give them the tools to optimise their wellbeing outside of the treatment room. He regularly undertakes further study, and has completed short courses in areas such as concussion management, running analysis, lower limb biomechanics, chronic pain management and breathing dysfunction. He has also privately tutored osteopathic students from Victoria University.
Matthew treats patients of all ages including children and adolescents. During his time in private practice, he has gained consistent hands-on experience in sports medicine and has treated many types and levels of athletes including footballers, runners, power-lifters, ballet dancers, Olympic wrestlers, triathletes and cyclists.
Matthew incorporates a broad range of Osteopathic treatment techniques, including soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, manipulation and stretching. Matthew’s approach is aimed towards facilitating function and keeping his patients active now and in the longer term. In addition to providing hands-on Osteopathic treatment, he enjoys creating an individualised management plan and setting goals with his patients to help them get back to doing what they enjoy.
When not at work Matthew enjoys reading, coffee and chasing after his two young boys.
