Your Osteopathic consultation
What does it involve?
Medical History
We ask you to complete a new patient questionnaire and we take a thorough past medical history for your first visit. We use this information to determine what factors may be contributing to your issue and help guide our examination and diagnostic process.
Examination
We will perform a physical Osteopathic examination, including orthopaedic and additional neurological testing if indicated by your medical history and presentation.
Diagnosis
Osteopaths are primary health care professionals who are trained in both musculo-skeletal diagnosis and being able to identify other medical diagnoses that may require referral. If we feel it is necessary, we may directly refer you for an X-Ray or MRI to investigate further, or back to your GP.
Osteopathic Treatment
Your treatment is tailored to what is best for YOU and your specific issue, and can be applied firmly or very gently. We can use a range of manual therapy techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint articulation, spinal manipulation and indirect treatment techniques (gently applied).
Self-Management
We are passionate about empowering you with knowledge and strategies to help yourself. We feel this gives better long-term results and recovery, and we are always here for a check in treatment if required. We usually give you exercises to do at home as well as a detailed management plan.
Experienced care
All of our Osteopaths each have over 10 years of experience. At Pivotal Osteopathy we are here to care for your family, both adults and kids.
