Eliska is an experienced Osteopath who has been registered and working in private practice since 2007.
Eliska graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science) and Master of Health Science (Osteopathy) in 2006. She is registered with AHPRA (Osteopathy Board of Australia) and is a member of Osteopathy Australia.
Eliska is passionate about the holistic philosophy and approach of osteopathic treatment in facilitating healing and helping to maintain the optimal health of her patients. She is experienced in treating patients at all stages of life, from children through to adults, and has extensive experience and interest in sports medicine and injury management. She regularly completes continuing professional development, and has completed additional short courses in areas such as women’s health/pregnancy, paediatrics, and running biomechanics/retraining.
Eliska uses a patient focused treatment approach, encompassing a broad range of techniques to get the best result for each individual. She utilises both direct (e.g. soft tissue massage, stretching, manipulation) and indirect (gently applied) treatment techniques depending on the injury and needs of the patient. Eliska also provides helpful self-management strategies, including exercise rehabilitation, stretching programs and postural advice. Eliska's approach is aimed at achieving longer-term results and pain relief for her patients.
In addition to her many years of clinical experience as an Osteopath, Eliska has previously lectured and tutored in Anatomy and Physiology/Human Biology at Bachelor Degree level for Victoria University, the Australian College of Natural Medicine and the Southern School of Natural Therapies. She conducted research into pelvic mechanics and muscle recruitment patterns with a number of Victorian based AFL clubs in 2005/6, and held the positions of Chief Medical Officer/Head Sports Trainer at Caulfield Grammarians’ Football Club over three years. In 2016 Eliska has been involved teaching as a clinical supervisor for the Osteopathic program at RMIT university.
Eliska has a particular interest in treating back/neck pain, shoulder injuries, headaches, arthritis, pre and post-pregnancy, women's health, children, sports injuries (such as tendinopathy) and the TMJ (jaw).
Matthew is an experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic Osteopath who enjoys treating people of all ages and with a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints. He incorporates a number of treatment techniques in his consultations, including "direct" techniques such as mobilisation, soft tissue techniques and manipulative therapy to get the most out of the body's response to Osteopathy. Matthew enjoys helping educate his patients with exercise and lifestyle advice to give them the tools to optimise their well being outside of the treatment room.
Matthew regularly undertakes further study, including courses on running and lower limb biomechanics, chronic pain management and breathing dysfunction. He has also privately tutored osteopathic students from Victoria University.
Matthew is particularly interested in the treatment and rehabilitation of postural and sports injuries. Having a background in competitive rowing, as well as previously being a senior sports trainer at a Melbourne Eastern League football club for two years, he has gained consistent hands-on experience in sports medicine. Since graduating from Victoria University in 2008, Matt has treated all types and levels of athletes including runners, power-lifters, ballet dancers, Olympic wrestlers, triathletes and cyclists.
Matthew is available Monday and Wednesday mornings at Pivotal Osteopathy.
